From Conventional to Holistic Medicine
From Conventional to Holistic Medicine

How Dawn Trudeau transitioned from her traditional medical career to an innovative, integrative medicine doctor with Quantum University.
All qualities that make an extraordinary health practitioner are embedded in Dawn Trudeau. From her battle with childhood cancer to a lifelong career as a Registered Nurse, Dawn took the courageous leap to transition into a holistic medicine practitioner. Her story shows that no matter how far you are into your medical career, there are always new avenues to explore. Through her education at Quantum University, Dawn became a lifelong learner and rebranded her aesthetic medicine practice into her very own wellness medicine practice focused on natural healing.
A Contemporary Medical Background
Like many people who gravitate towards medical careers, Dawn faced medical challenges early on in life. At just three months old, she was diagnosed with malignant histiocytosis, a rare and aggressive cancer impacting every tissue cell. Treated with traditional medicine and chemotherapy trials, she beat the 50 percent survival odds. This early experience pushed Dawn into a career as a Registered Nurse as felt that she “owed the medical field” for allowing her to live a prosperous life.
Dawn received her associate’s and bachelor’s degrees in nursing and became a board-certified addiction specialist. Though she loved practicing as an RN in all areas of the hospital, she was no longer satisfied with her career. She felt as if nobody in the hospital was happy, and she “needed to bring joy back” into her life.
Leaving the Hospital
When her per-diem and travel jobs as a float nurse throughout the hospital stopped fulfilling her dreams and desires to “help people heal,” Dawn decided to open an aesthetic medicine business called Ageless Beauty. Here, she practiced aesthetic medicine by doing what she thought people wanted – Botox, fillers, and laser therapy.
While treating patients through hands-on skincare, Dawn noticed that touch-based modalities created a “different kind of connection – a deeper connection” than traditional medicine. She started seeking out people’s “vibrations” and developing an interest in holistic care. When she was given the chance to study with a medical doctor in ayurvedic healing, she jumped at the opportunity.
An Inspiring Internship
When a doctor from India moved her career to the United States, Dawn had the opportunity to study natural, homeopathic treatment modalities with her through Ayurveda. Ayurvedic healing focuses on the harmony between the mind, body, spirit, and universe. Dawn trained in methods like PEMF frequency therapy and herbal modalities to heal bodies medicinally. This four-year internship deepened her love for natural healing.
After her internship, Dawn was still conflicted about her future in medicine. She started a Nurse Practitioner program to advance her career but did not feel connected with the ideology there. Instead, Dawn knew she wanted to do more natural healing. However, it wasn’t until her husband came across Quantum University that she truly committed to the tenants of holistic medicine.
The Education of a Lifetime
After learning about their core principles, Dawn chose to pursue her PhD in integrative medicine at Quantum University. She was first drawn to the accessibility that their online education provides. Without this instructional format, Dawn wouldn’t have been able to finish her degree at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Aside from their all-digital program format, Dawn was sold on Quantum “just by reading the curriculum.” As she learned more about the course offerings, she was amazed by the innovation tied to courses. Nobody teaches classes like her favorite, Pro-Consciousness Medicine by Dr. Paul Drouin, at conventional medical schools. Quantum’s focus on the infinite possibilities of treatment drove Dawn to fall in love with the program.
While in school, Dawn was constantly encouraged by those around her. She remembers a conversation with a colleague that stated, “don’t let anybody tell you the wrong way of what you’re doing”. This, combined with support from professors like Dr. Paul Drouin, who have gone through a similar traditional to holistic medicine transition, encouraged Dawn to take her career further.
A New Framework
After completing her PhD at Quantum University, Dawn was inspired to rebrand her aesthetic medicine business from Ageless Beauty to Ageless Wellness Medicine. She went from treating how people look on the outside to helping people heal from the inside out.
At her wellness clinic, Dawn focuses on natural healing by encouraging clients to change the epigenetics of their chronic conditions through nutrients and exercise. Further, she introduces natural herbs and frequency therapy to promote physical healing. Dawn continues to offer some aesthetic procedures, though seldom, and IV vitamin infusions.
Dawn dedicates her success in her business to her education at Quantum University. She learned to heal innately. As a result, her mindset of healing transitioned from pills and prescriptions to focusing on “intangible energy.” But she notes that it wasn’t a simple task.
Tackling Challenges Head-On
All change requires a degree of faith. Dawn took a leap of faith when transitioning from contemporary to holistic medicine. Coming from Rhode Island and Massachusetts, known for their medical schools, there was a significant backlash in bringing holistic and natural medicine into that area. Dawn faced considerable confusion from her colleagues and community and said that it “almost brings tears to her eyes,” – but she tackled these challenges head-on.
Remembering that her Quantum mentors were there to support her and that there have been other medical community members going through this same difficult transition, Dawn never looked back. She runs her successful wellness clinic and has no regrets about her break from contemporary medicine.
Lifelong Learning and Healing
Today, Dawn is most satisfied with how she’s a lifelong learner. Recognizing that there’s more than just contemporary medicine helped her seek avenues for growth in holistic care. Dawn believes that there’s always something new to learn, including ways to implement modern technology.
Using devices like the BrainTap Bluetooth Headset and HeartMath Inner Balance, both of which Dawn was introduced to at Quantum University, she manages to heal clients without using traditional medicine. Knowing that “there are so many possibilities out there” and that the options are limitless – focusing on natural, holistic wellness has become Dawn’s passion.
